Event Description:
For National Fossil Day, the museum is hosting Bureau of Land Management Educational Liaison and paleontologist Andrew Smith for a demonstration on how paleontologists excavate fossils. The program will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20th from 1 pm to 2pm at the Royal Gorge Regional Museum & History Center. Both kids and adults are welcome to come and learn about the tools and techniques used by professionals to carefully unearth a fossil.  Participants will have an  opportunity to excavate a fossil during the presentation. The demonstration is free and open to the public.  
 
The museum and history center is located in the City of Cañon City’s former Municipal Building at 612 Royal Gorge Boulevard. The hours of the museum and history center are Wednesday through Saturday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  For more information, call the museum at 269-9036 or send an email to historycenter@canoncity.org.
